Üdder - 2016

Acrylic & Emulsion
on Canvas.

This artwork, “Üdder” (formerly known as “Adrian’s Face”), is a dynamic and ethereal piece. The primary palette consists of soft, pastel colours—pinks, purples, blues, and yellows—shining throughout the work. This piece follows the trajectory of my earlier work, “A Boy and His Dolphin,” as I employed many of the same techniques, relying on finger painting, alongside throwing, dripping, splattering, and hand blending paints. I also began to work with more watered-down paint, a technique that dominates this piece. Additionally, I focused on incorporating intense saturation, spending time building more concentrated areas of colour to create a sense of depth.

The overall composition has a fluid and organic feel, almost as if it captures a moment of motion or the aftermath of some cosmic event. This painting evokes a heightened sense of wonderment and contemplation, capturing the chaotic and intricate nature and beauty of youth, as well as the dynamism of expression and the complexities of emotion.
