"OLF, Handstand" is the first piece in my 2022 illustration-based stop-motion series. This piece started it all! I began this series with the intention of exploring new avenues and methods of creation. I wanted to start with something relatively simple that could also have an element of playfulness. I had never worked with stop motion prior to this series, and I had no idea what to expect going into it, especially since I didn't consider myself to be a particularly skilled illustrator at the time, given my stylistic departure from detailed fashion sketches to freehand doodles. This project enabled me to try an uncharted medium and create in a way that was freeing while also requiring focus, explorative invention, intention, and trust in the process. I learned much from the creation of this series and regained my confidence in my illustrative practice.
