Turmoil - 2020

This piece is a deeply personal response to the poignant sweeping socio-cultural shifts brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic and the BLM movement. It captures the tumultuous spirit of the times, echoing my own struggles and experiences during this period.

Unlike my usual spontaneous approach to painting, I came to this canvas with a clear intention: to channel my raw emotions into every brushstroke. This deliberate emotional exploration marks a significant departure from my typical creative process.

This work also represents a pivotal moment in my artistic journey. For the first time, I chose to work with a more restricted colour palette, bringing a nuanced depth to the composition. Additionally, I ventured into using oil paint as a central medium, which added layers of texture and complexity to the narrative that unfolds in this piece.
