LFW “HYPER MODE”
- 2020

In 2020, I embarked on an ambitious project that united my dual artistic identities, OLF (formerly known as “OLAFMYFRIENDS”) and my pseudonym “Wiseb3an,” to create a dynamic, graffiti-inspired fashion collection. This 8-outfit collection was entirely self-funded, independently organised and designed, merging my two distinct art styles into a cohesive and innovative vision.

Banksy once wrote, "If graffiti changed anything - it would be illegal," and this quote became the backbone of my creative process for this project.

I managed every aspect of this project, from concept development to final production, with the clear aim of making a bold statement against the exclusivity of London Fashion Week. To do this, I organised a guerrilla fashion show in Central London during the height of London Fashion Week – the fashion season – to showcase my collection. This event wasn't just about displaying garments; it was a direct rebellion against the norms of the fashion industry, pushing the boundaries of what fashion can be while challenging traditional ideas of who belongs on the runway and what a fashion show should look like. To further emphasise this, I purposefully chose individuals with no prior modelling experience to model my garments, working with them at their individual confidence and skill levels. I also had to design and fit garments for some models based solely on their sent measurements, as many lived in different parts of the country. It wasn’t until the day of the show that I could formally fit and assign garments and finalise the walking directions and timings.

Moreover, I financed the entire project myself, demonstrating not only my commitment to my vision but also my ability to plan and execute on a tight budget while meeting university deadlines and completing other projects. I additionally coordinated all logistics and promotion for the event, leveraging my connections and utilising a network of bloggers, photographers, and other creatives I knew to maximise the impact and reach of the show.

This “HYPER MODE” collection, showcased publicly across Central London during London Fashion Week, was my way of boycotting the systemic hierarchical bias and exclusivity that features prevalently in both the fashion industry and the contemporary art world. Through this collection of 'wearable art,' I aimed to challenge and redefine traditional concepts of ‘what a fashion show’ is and ‘who gets to participate’. My goal was to demonstrate that fashion and art shouldn’t be exclusive to only those who can afford access, but rather, should be inclusive and accessible to all.

The collection was extremely well received by the public, garnering significant attention and leading to an opportunity for me to create tour garments later that year.
