Exalted- 2019

I created this piece out of a desire to explore the juxtaposition between working on a smaller scale canvas while executing larger shapes and mark-making. I wanted to experiment with brush and mark-making techniques, to create bold, emotive strokes and vivid blocks of colour.

As I worked more viscerally with this piece, it began to take on a more blurred, free-flowing, water-based feel, almost akin to watercolours spreading across linen. This effect is particularly dynamic, mirroring a slow osmosis of hues and tones, drawing the viewer in with its captivating, shifting nature. I believe this piece conveys my aim to harmoniously blend vibrant, striking pools of colour with large, energetic brush strokes, all while maintaining elements of my signature pareidolia-led style. "Exalted" is an immersive composition, rich with enigmatic, colour-filled layers and animated movement.
